Here Goes… Something
Eight years ago I wanted an Eb whistle, and clumsily carved out toneholes on a brass tube which fit an existing whistle. Dodgy as the tuning was, it worked well enough, and I was excited that I had created something (at least partially) of my own. In 2016 I decided to try and make an instrument which performed exactly as I wanted to. It was really just to see if I could. To my surprise, as my prototypes became better and better, more people expressed interest in acquiring one. As I developed both musically and as a maker, I began to think about how to improve upon the limitations and cumbersome designs of traditional instruments.
Now, after six years of on-and-off development, six months of frantic work, we’re gonna try it. We’re gonna open an instrument shop.
Pennywhistles are just the beginning of what will hopefully be a wide variety of rare and/or traditional woodwinds, engineered for ergonomics, longevity, and of course, outstanding tone and playing characteristics.
